The Department of Basic Education has given candidates a number of options to track and receive their matric results. Students should contact their school to find out when they can collect their Senior Certificates.

Students are warned to expect slower than normal server responses due to the expected elevated levels of traffic.
Call the department
You can call the department’s hotline at 082 152.
Dial *120*35658# to access the USSD results service. You will be asked to answer a series of questions and will be required to enter your ID number.
For state schools:
You can register via SMS by sending your identity number followed by your exam number to 35658. Once your registration has been successful you will receive a confirmation SMS. SMSs cost R1 (free SMSs don’t apply).
For IEB results:
If you have provided the IEB with your cell phone number your results will automatically be sent to that number. If not, you can register by sending an SMS to 35135.
Use the following text format in the message:
Results Examination Number Birth Date(ccyymmdd). Example: Results 173456789012 19980121
You will receive a confirmation message once registration has been successful. Please note that SMSs cost R3.
National and regional newspapers publish selected results. You won’t be able to see subject results, only whether it’s a pass, a Bachelors pass or distinction. Results in the Western Cape will be published on Saturday 5 January.
Visit your school
Students can visit their school to collect their results but it would be best if contact is made with the school ahead of time to avoid frustration. Your school will not have your certificate on the day, these will be printed and posted a few weeks after the results have been released.
